Why get tested for STDs?
Around 19 million people in the U.S. will be infected with an STD this year, according to the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and nearly half of those infections among young people between the ages of 15 to 24.. The worst part is that most people don't know they have an STD — no pain, no itch, no burns, no signs at all. About 50% of all sexually active people will get an STD by they time they are in their mid-20s. Unless you plan on stopping all sexual activity, you're at risk of contracting or spreading STDs. Early detection with highly accurate screening tests can save you from the dangers of advanced disease and prevent others from contracting STDs. So again, why should you get tested?
1) Things can and could worsen over time.
2) Early detection can prevent the infection from getting worse.
3) You may unknowingly be putting other people's health in danger.
4) Peace of mind.
Why use our services?
National Health Testing uses CLIA-certified clinical laboratories. All of our testing centers are certified at both the federal and state level, approved by the FDA, and able to perform the same standard tests that are offered through your typical hospital or doctor's office. No need to spend hours in a clinic and possibly have to visit the clinic a second time. Get test results in days instead of weeks. Take control of your sexual health with direct access testing for sexually transmitted diseases.
Is the testing confidential?
You deserve to be informed about your health. There are many reasons why we don’t get the routine preventative screenings that are needed to detect deadly diseases and other health concerns. Insurance is usually a large factor. Maybe you simply want to protect your privacy and would prefer to keep certain results and testing off of your permanent medical record. It simply could come down to time and money. Direct laboratory testing allows you to take control of your health and schedule the necessary tests conveniently and confidentially. Direct laboratory testing is simple, private, and convenient.
Do I need an appointment?
An appointment is generally not required by our laboratories. Some tests, however, may require scheduling. Your counselor will be able to inform you if your specific test requires an appointment. The majority of our tests can offer same day or next day testing. Call (888)840-8688 to speak with a counselor today to find out more.
Do we have a laboratory close to your area?
NHT has medical laboratories in every major city in the United States. NHT is also one of the few companies that provide std testing in New York, New Jersey, and Rhode Island. If you don't live in or near a major city we will find the Patient Service Center closest to you.
How long does it take to get my results?
National Health Testing is remarkably fast and confidential. By sending you to the labs directly, you can expect to receive your results back faster than going to a physician. You can expect to receive the results within one to five days after you have visited the laboratory.
What can I expect at the Patient Service Center?
Your Patient Service Center (PSC) visit will take 15 minutes or less. A counselor will make sure that the PSC is ready for you and processed correctly. Please do not try to visit or contact the PSC without making a call to National Health Testing first. Every state requires physician review of your request and preparation of a test requisition prior to your visit. Please take our phone number 888-840-8688 to the lab with you just in case there is a problem.
How do NHT's prices compare with a regular doctor visit?
Our high volume services allows us to offer excellant pricing and we pass that savings on to you. You also save money on a doctors visit, which on average costs $100 before any std testing. By testing direct you save up to 50% compared to a doctor visit for the same high quality tests.
Are there any special instructions before I get tested?
Yes. If having a urine test performed please do not urinate 1 hour prior to testing. Also remember to write down our phone number 888-840-8688 and bring it with you to the lab just in case there is a problem with the laboratory location.
What if I am positive?
If a test result comes back positive we will be able to help you locate a clinic in your area to receive treatment.
Can I get the same STD twice?
Yes.
Are STD tests always accurate?
No test for any STD is 100% accurate. We provide the highest quality tests from two of the largest laboratory testing facilities in the country. Even if you test negative, keep practicing safer sex.
